The North Cascades are an outdoor enthusiasts’ playground. While it may not have the same popularity or notoriety when compared to hikes in the I-90 corridor or near Mount Rainier National Park, the quietness and remoteness of this area give the park characteristics that truly define what, to me, it means to be an “escape into the mountains”. Hikers in the North Cascades are treated to stunning views of the most expansive glacial system in the contiguous United States and, if they’re lucky, goats and pika on hikes in this area.
