Huskies sweet L.A. schools

After breezing through their out-of-conference schedule undefeated, the Washington volleyball squad continued its win-streak in Pac-10 play, defeating No. 10 UCLA Friday and upsetting No. 2 USC Saturday. The win against the Trojans was the No. 3 Huskies (10-0, 2-0 Pac-10) first in 13 matches against the defending national champions. Freshman Christal Morrison shined for the Huskies, recording 18 kills and 16 digs. Senior Sanja Tomasevic added 18 kills to the UW win. After losing the first game 30-22, Washington responded with a 30-25 win in the second. The Trojans took the third game 30-20, but the Huskies fought back to take games four and five with scores 30-26 and 18-16, respectively. USC grabbed a 2-1 lead, but UW captured the final two matches to pick up the win. Friday, Washington headed to Pauley Pavilion to face the Bruins. The two teams split the first two games, with UW taking game one 30-18 before falling to UCLA in the second, 30-24. After that, however, it was all Huskies as they won the next two games 30-18 and 30-22 to win the match. Tomasevic led all players with 27 kills in the match. Washington makes their home debut this weekend against a pair of Pac-10 foes, hosting Oregon Friday Oct. 1 and Oregon State Saturday Oct. 2.
