The Washington women's volleyball team, ranked second for the first time in program history, will make its home debut this weekend at Bank of America Arena as they continue Pac-10 against Oregon and Oregon State.
The Huskies (10-0, 2-0 Pac-10) opened up the conference season last weekend with wins over No. 3 USC and No. 10 UCLA in Los Angeles.
Washington coach Jim McLaughlin hopes the momentum from last weekend's victories will continue on to this weekend.
"They're both good teams," he said. "They're both better than they were last year."
UW swept the season series against both schools and has won nine straight matches against both the Ducks and Beavers.
Washington will face Oregon (8-3, 0-1 Pac-10) tonight at 7 p.m. Returning six starters from a 3-24 squad a year ago, the Ducks started the season winning eight of their first ten and look to continue their early season success.
Oregon will be without a major offensive threat in rightside hitter Lauren Westerdorf, who is out of action with an ACL injury. Westerdorf had been leading the team in kills, with 5.06 per game.
Saturday, the Huskies will go up against Oregon State (7-3, 1-0 Pac-10) The Beavers -- who finished seventh in the Pac-10 last year -- have won four matches in a row, including a victory over No. 23 San Diego State.
McLaughlin knows the Huskies need to focus on their own games before looking at their opponents, or their recent history with them.
"We have to take care of the Huskies first and just keep getting better," he said. "Then we'll start worrying about their tendencies."
