Huskies sixth at Ihlanfeldt

The UW women's golf team is currently tied with Washington State for sixth place after a foggy opening round at the annual Ihlanfeldt Invitational yesterday. The Huskies shot a team score of 310 to put them at 22-over par after opening-round play at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish. The second-ranked Huskies have never won the event in its 23 year history. No. 9 Oklahoma State finished the round at eight-over par to lead the field of 14. Pepperdine--who is currently ranked 14th--finished in a close second at 10-over par, two shots from the lead. Washington is paced by freshman Kim Shin--the 10 ranked player in the nation--who is tied with seven others for 15th place after shooting a four-over par score of 76 in the first round. Sophomores Ashley Bickerton and Sung Ea Lee and junior All-American Paige Mackenzie, each carded a 78 to put them in a tie for 25th place. Oklahoma State's Karin Sjodin is the overall individual leader, carding a two-under par score of 70. Second round play continues today with tee times starting at 9 a.m.
