The Talking Heads are one of the weirdest and best bands of all time. One of my favorite songs of theirs, “Psycho Killer,” will not only get you moving and grooving your body with its incredibly catchy nature, but it is also beyond appropriate for your Halloween day.
Most of the lyrics are a variation of “Psycho killer, qu’est-ce que c’est,” which roughly translates to “it is what it is.” Then later, lead singer David Byrne uses his watery, loud voice to sing/scream “run run run run run run run away.”
This song essentially tells us all that there are psycho killers, it is what it is, and all we can do is run away. A great message for all of us as the monsters and clowns and psycho killers run rampant this holiday.
So tonight when you’re prefunking for whatever festivities you have planned, play “Psycho Killer” in the background and get prepped for what might be lurking outside this Halloween.
