Senior Jake Douglas sends a ball back against Wake Forest last weekend at the ITA Championships. Douglas won his singles match against Seattle U easily, 6-1, 6-1.

The Washington men's tennis team bounced back from a rough 0-3 weekend last weekend to defeat Seattle University 7-0 to move to 7-4 on the year.

It was a much needed win after last weekend and the Dawgs made sure they were ready to go against the Redhawks (6-4).

“It was good to get going and get a win again,” No. 73 senior Jake Douglas said. “I thought our team brought good energy and we got down to business right away.”

The Huskies swept doubles and kept the momentum going from that to win every single first set.

It was a little bit of a different look out there on the court for Washington. Senior Joao Barra saw his first action of the year, in which he was victorious 6-3, 6-2. .

The other new addition to the lineup was freshman Alexis Alvarez. He played his second consecutive doubles match alongside Douglas, but he also saw his first singles action of the year and did everything he could to make sure it would not be his last, winning 6-0, 6-0.

That depth was very important for Washington today.

“One of the areas where I'm really confident with the team is our depth,” head coach Matt Anger said. “Sometimes you wish it were like basketball where you can get so many minutes for different guys rather than you're on the court or you're off the court.

Douglas took care of his own business winning, 6-1, 6-1 on court 2.

Junior Piers Foley did very impressive in his first action on court 4 in over two weeks. He started a little slow in the first set, winning 6-3, then got into a bit more of a groove to win 6-2 in the second set. Junior Enzo Sommer did the opposite. He came out on fire, not dropping a game in the first set before struggling a little bit in the second, still winning 6-3.

No. 57 senior Mitch Stewart played well in his first match since becoming ranked this season. He won 6-1,6-2.

The Huskies return to action next weekend as they host Minnesota on Friday and Portland State on Saturday.
