The Washington baseball team will have to wait another few days to try and break out of its slump after Mother Nature washed away the Huskies' scheduled home game Tuesday night against Portland.
With a heavy drizzle falling on the field, UW head coach Lindsay Meggs and Portland head coach Chris Sperry decided to postpone the game until next Tuesday at 5 p.m. Both teams had the date open on their schedules, so the Pilots will travel back up I-5 next week.
Due to the rainout, the Huskies missed their last opportunity at a tune-up game before conference play. They’ll travel to Los Angeles to play No. 7 UCLA in a three-game series this weekend, the first of conference play for both teams. Ten of the 11 Pac-12 baseball teams start conference play this weekend.
First pitch between the Huskies and Bruins is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday night, with matinees to follow on Saturday and Sunday.
