Men's tennis takes on Gonzaga today

The Washington men's tennis team looks for state bragging rights when it faces Gonzaga at 5 p.m. today at the Nordstrom Tennis Center. The No. 16 Huskies (7-1 overall) will be looking to rebound from to their first loss of the season, falling to Pepperdine 4-3 last Saturday. The loss dropped the Huskies from the top spots in the latest ITA rankings. Gonzaga (1-4) is off to a slow start this season The Bulldogs continue their woes from last year when they finished the season at 6-20 in eighth place in the West Coast Conference. They will be the fourth WCC team that Washington has faced so far this season. Gonzaga's lone victory of the season was a 5-2 win against Division III Whitman College two weeks ago. There are currently no ranked players on the Bulldogs' roster. Washingon holds a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series with Gonzaga. The Huskies have two ranked singles players -- sophomore Alex Slovic is No. 9 and senior Christoph Palmanshofer is No. 79. Palmanshofer and senior Alex Vlaski are the only UW players undefeated in singles matches. In doubles, freshman Andy Kuharszky and Slovic are the only undefeated pair for Washington, teaming up to go 4-0. Kuharszky is overall 7-1 in doubles play this season, a spot that has given the Huskies trouble so far in this young season.
