Whether you’re looking for a treat to bring to a holiday party or something to snack on while studying for finals, this recipe will surely do the trick. What’s great about puppy chow is you can customize it to your liking. If you hate how sweet white chocolate is, substitute dark chocolate instead, or if you want to add a little saltiness, mix in some mini pretzels.
It’s the treat that keeps on giving, whether that is to your friends or just to yourself.
Ingredients:
8 candy canes
4 cups Rice Chex
1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips
1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 cup powdered sugar
Directions:
1. In a bowl, microwave white chocolate chips and unsalted butter together in 30 second increments, up to four or five times. Stir between increments.
2. Pour white chocolate and unsalted butter mixture over Rice Chex in a large bowl. Mix until evenly distributed.
3. In a gallon-sized Ziploc bag, crush candy canes until they become fine, bite-sized pieces. Using the textbook you never opened this quarter should do the trick.
4. Add 3/4 cup of the powdered sugar into the bag. Add the Rice Chex coated in white chocolate, and then add the remaining 1/4 cup of powdered sugar.
5. Zip the bag up tight and shake the bag until candy canes and powdered sugar are evenly distributed. Serve in a festive bowl or enjoy straight from the bag.
