The Washington women's golf team took a sharp fall down the leader board yesterday at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
The No. 4 Huskies carded a team score of 315 in the second round, dropping three spots into a tie for seventh place at 44-over par.
UCLA dropped out of the top spot in the tournament as a 20-over par team performance put them in a tie for second place with Duke at 25-over par. Pepperdine gained the lead shooting 24-over par as it carded a 296 for the second straight day.
For the second day in a row, junior Paige MacKenzie had the low round of the day for Washington. She shot a 5-over par 76 to put her deadlocked for 12th with seven other golfers at 7-over par.
Sophomores Amy Wang and Amber Prange both shot 7-over par 78 on the day to put them in 28th and 30th respectively.
Junior Sung Ea Lee dropped from 19th to 57th after she carded an 83 on the day to leave her at 16-over par. Freshman Kim Shin is 63rd at 18-over par.
Brittany Lang of Duke continues to sit atop the individual leader board after her round of 1-over par 72 left her at 2-under par. She leads her next closest competitors by five shots, as UCLA's Charlotte Mayorkas and Pepperdine's Eileen Vargas both sit in second at 3-over par.
The challenge's final rounds are today, with tee times starting at 9 a.m.
