In the last day of competition at the Jack Kramer Invitational, the Washington women’s tennis team ended its fall season on a high note Sunday.
In singles, freshman Stacey Fung defeated Oregon’s Shweta Sangwan 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the finals. She fell to Fresno State’s Maiar Sherif Ahmed 6-1, 7-5.
Freshman Tami Grende reached the quarterfinals for the second-straight tournament before falling to No. 9 Zoe Katz 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles, Grende partnered with sophomore Miki Kobayashi and advanced to the semifinals, where they fell 8-6 to Ahmed and her sister, senior Rana Sherif Ahmed, from Fresno State.
The Huskies will start the regular season against Eastern Washington at 9 a.m. on Jan. 9 at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
