Huskies head to last competition of the season

The Washington men and women’s tennis teams are will play in the Jack Kramer Club Invitational this weekend Nov. 3-5 in California. For both teams the competition will be the last of the 2016-17 season, and players will not return to the courts until the new season begins in January with regular competition.

Including this upcoming weekend, the Huskies have only had three opportunities in the last month for their newest players to experience collegiate tennis.

On the men’s team, freshmen Jack Davis and Alexis Alvarez had the chance to play in the USCB Classics and ITA Regional Championship, where they each showed promise in their respective singles and doubles matches. Davis went 3-1 in his singles matches during the USCB Classics, and Alvarez made it to the round of 32 in his doubles match at the ITA Regional Championship.

Vanessa Wong, the lone freshman on the women’s team, played at the Husky Invite and Kansas Invitational, where she faced a wide variety of competitors but did well, including winning all of her singles matches at the Husky Invite. Junior Stacey Fung will not be with the team, and is instead participating in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championship which runs Nov. 1-5.
