The Washington women’s basketball team opened Pac-12 play in Pullman on Tuesday against in-state rival Washington State and extended its win streak to four, defeating the Cougars 79-64.
Junior guard Kelsey Plum scored a game-high 33 points, her fifth 30-point game of the season and the 16th of her career. With 52 games scoring 20 points or more, Plum broke Jazmine Davis’ UW record of 51 career 20+ point games.
The next closest scorer on the night for the UW was redshirt sophomore guard Brianna Ruiz with 12, followed by junior forward Chantel Osahor and redshirt senior forward Talia Walton with 11 each.
Osahor led the Huskies with seven rebounds on the night, and Plum led in assists with four.
The UW held the lead for the majority of the game, but after decisively pulling ahead at the beginning of the second quarter, never let the Cougars catch up through the remainder of the game.
In matchups against the Cougars, the Huskies hold the advantage at 67-13 all-time.
The Huskies continue conference play against Colorado on Saturday, Jan. 2, in Boulder, Colo.
