The volleyball team reached another milestone during the weekend.
One hundred wins in five years.
Head coach Jim McLaughlin won his 100th game as his No. 2 volleyball team stormed through Oregon.
The Huskies (18-0 overall, 9-0 Pac-10) were on the road in Oregon as they recorded three-game sweeps over both the Ducks and the Beavers.
"We played well enough to win and I think we made some improvement in some areas," McLaughlin said about the trip. "We were pretty happy about the weekend."
On Saturday, the UW faced the Beavers (7-8, 3-6) winning in straight games, 30-24, 30-18 and 30-14.
"We started out a little bit slow," McLaughlin said. "I felt we were a little tired, but then we kicked it in. They were with us for a while and then we took off."
Brie Hagerty and Christal Morrison both led a balanced Husky attack as they each had 12 kills on the night. Sanja Tomasevic and Alesha Dessing each had nine kills in the match themselves.
"I really thought that once we got into our offense and controlled the ball we got it going like we did against Oregon," McLaughlin said.
Courtney Thompson set up her teammates all night, finishing with 51 assists.
The Washington defense recorded 9.5 blocks on the night, holding OSU to a .136 hitting percentage.
The Beavers had only one player with double-digit kills in the match. Taylor Studzinski had 11 kills while hitting a team-high .450.
The win in Corvallis put McLaughlin in the century mark.
"I've been coaching for a while now at the UW, and things add up," he said about the milestone. "But our ultimate goal is to improve and be a great team in November and December."
The Ducks (11-9, 1-8) were no match for the Husky attack on Friday night as the UW hit .460 on the night in a win over Oregon.
The three-game sweep featured game scores of 30-17, 30-16 and 30-14.
"We played well against the Ducks," McLaughlin said. "We blocked well and, more importantly, I thought we passed at a very high level and we hit at a very high level, and when we do those two things, we make it pretty tough on the opponent."
It was another balanced look from the UW offense as four players finished the night with kills in double digits. Christal Morrison led the way with 13.
While Candace Lee led the Washington defense with 16 digs, McLaughlin said it was something other than her defensive prowess that was on display against the Ducks.
"I thought [Lee] was excellent because she passed really well and she got the whole team playing at a higher level," he said.
On the Oregon side of the net, Mira Djuric came to play as she powered the Duck's offensive attack with 13 kills.
The Huskies return to road this week as they face Arizona on Thursday, followed by Arizona State on Friday night.
