Sankey chosen in second round

Running back Bishop Sankey became the second UW player chosen in the second round of the NFL draft Friday, going to the Tennessee Titans with the 54th overall pick. Sankey joins former teammate Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who was picked 38th overall, as the only UW players drafted thus far. During his time at the UW, Sankey developed into a star in the backfield. In three season, Sankey ran for a UW-record 37 touchdowns. During the 2013 season, Sankey set the UW record for most rushing yards in a season with 1,870. An excellent combine pushed Sankey to the top of the running back draft board, and he was the first player picked at the position. He joins up with another former Husky, quarterback Jake Locker, in Tennessee’s backfield. Sankey faces the daunting task of replacing former 2,000-yard rusher Chris Johnson as the Titans’ main ball carrier. Reach sports editor Daniel Rubens at sports@dailyuw.com . Twitter: @drubens12
